๐ŸŽฏ Limit orders

Place buys and sells at your own price on Polymarket markets, review open orders, and cancel one or all โ€” nothing fills above your price.

A limit order lets you name your own price instead of paying the market's. It sits in the order book and fills only if the market reaches your price. Until then it just reserves the funds, and you can cancel it at any time.

In 10 seconds

  • Order prices run 0.001โ€“0.999 per share (within the $0โ€“$1 range shares trade in); orders fill only at your price โ€” possibly partially, possibly never.
  • Manual orders are GTC (good-till-cancelled); cancelling frees the reserved funds.
  • Manage everything from ๐Ÿฆ Limit Orders โ€” cancel one or all, with a confirmation step.
  • Copy-trading limit orders add an offset and an optional expiration (90sโ€“7d or GTC).

Placing a limit order

On any market screen, choose Limit Buy or Limit Sell:

  1. Price โ€” reply with the price per share, between 0.001 and 0.999 (e.g. 0.45).
  2. Amount โ€” for a buy, the pUSD to spend; for a sell, the percentage of your position.

The bot confirms the placed order with quantity, outcome and price. Orders fill when the market trades at your price โ€” possibly partially, possibly never.

Managing open orders

Open ๐Ÿฆ Limit Orders (or via Positions) to see every open order with its market, side, price, shares and value. From there you can:

  • Cancel a single order โ€” if it hasn't already filled, it is cancelled and the reserved funds are freed.
  • Cancel all orders โ€” with a confirmation step; the bot reports exactly which orders were cancelled and which had already filled.

If an order filled before your cancel arrived, it counts as a trade like any other โ€” the bot tells you so instead of reporting it as cancelled.

How long do orders last?

Manually placed limit orders are GTC (good-till-cancelled): they stay open until they fill, you cancel them, or the market closes.

Limit orders inside copy trading

A copy subscription can mirror buys and sells with limit orders instead of market orders. Buy and sell order types are independent, and each limit side has its own settings:

  • Buy / Sell Limit Offset โ€” that side's order is placed at the target's price plus its configured offset (e.g. -0.02 to place two cents below their price).
  • Buy / Sell Expiration โ€” an unfilled order on that side can auto-cancel after a duration from 90s to 7d, or stay GTC.

When a buy side uses limit orders, its market slippage and retry settings do not apply. When a sell side uses limit orders, its market slippage and automatic Take Profit / Stop Loss controls do not apply.

See Copy trading order controls for how these settings interact.
